A new type of breeding practice has become popular in recent years. Cross breeding pure breeds to create ‘designer’ dogs.
A designer dog is the result of the controlled mixed breeding of two pure breed dogs. This is generally done to create a dog with ‘desirable’ attributes, such as; hypoallergenic coat, high intelligence etc.
The number refers to the generation. The ‘b’ means the dog has been back bred with one of the grand parent breeds.
Cockapoos take up the more of the market than their two parent breeds combined.
